HAPPINESS HIT HER LIKE A BULLET IN THE BACK, STRUCK FROM A GREAT HEIGHT BY SOMEONE WHO SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN THAT. THE DOG DAYS ARE OVER, THE DOG DAYS ARE DONE. CAN YOU HEAR THE HORSES? 'CAUSE HERE THEY COME. RUN FAST FOR YOUR MOTHER, RUN FAST FOR YOUR FATHER, RUN FOR YOUR CHILDREN, FOR YOUR SISTERS AND BROTHERS. | “ Yeesh! If I'dda known I'd be the one in charge 'a' puttin' the gym back together, I'dda told 'em no way when I got offered tha' job.” The heat was terrible that summer afternoon, the sun beating down on any and all people who dared to tread across the sandy, dirt roads to what was left of Ishya town. Mother Nature was pulling out all her cards today; the only place hotter in the region today was heart of Lyeant's desert, which just so happened to be no more than a mile or so away. Only a fool would be outside today, working their tail off in the blistering sun in an area deemed uninhabitable due to nuclear radiation. Only a fool, that is, or a woman whose detemination kept her working in any and all conditions. Scientists were miracle workers, Leonora decided, admiring the sign she'd just painted that read: “GYM NOW OPEN”. After the “Imum wars”, poor little Ishya Town was declared uninhabitable for reasons stated before. A nuclear bomb had been dropped, the entire area decimated, and the air unfit for humans and Pokemon to breathe. However, Ishya Town had harbored a gym, and while the gym itself – as well as the old gym leader – bit the dust, the league demanded a new one take its place. But where? The town before it – Erayo City – and the town after it – Aria Village – both had gyms. Spit Fire Road to the west was also suffering radiation, and the desert to the east was no place for a gym. North? South? Too rocky. The only choice they had was to set up camp on the remains of what had been a peaceful town. And, boy, had those scientists made that possible. While gas masks and suits were still required to get past Spit Fire Road and the outskirts of the Ishya Ruins, a special dome that took up almost the entirety of what was left of the place made it possible to breathe and walk and do all sorts of things like a normal person. And so, on a large, broken slab of what used to be the town's largest building – the town square – Lenny set up a camping tent, put up a sign, and declared her fire-type gym open to any and all trainers who were brave enough to make their way to it. “ I'm pooped,” the red-head groaned, slumping against the wooden board on a stick and not even caring as the still-wet paint rubbed off onto her open jacket. Feu, her Flareon, nestled contently between her side and arm, dragging a reluctant chuckle out of the new gym leader. “ Ya' better be careful there, ya' little stinker. I'mma use you as a pillow if you don't get outta here.” All that was left to do was... well, most everything. Her Pokemon were caught and trained properly, and she'd established that the gym was open, but they'd have to start building an actual building soon – a simple tent just wouldn't do – and then she'd have to go out and hire gym trainers to battle the challenger, as well. Only then would she get to the fun part of decorating the whole thing, but... It could take a year, maybe more before all of that was settled, and she'd still have to accept challenges while the whole thing was taking place. Such were the orders of the League. All in all, she had a long, difficult road ahead of her as Ishya's fire-type gym leader. Lenny could really go for a vodka right about then. |

Matthias walked down a road he was told lead towards a gym leader and gym that was brand new. As he was walking down the road he saw a few signs up saying not to leave the path and there were signs that implied radioactive material was in the area and was lethal to those expsosed to it. He sighed to himself remembering the war and everything that had happened the past five years. It didnt feel like five years to him more like a lifetime as he remembered all the old battled he had and the times that his life had nearly been ended too many times to count as well as a few small jewels of happiness as well. His abilities had grown as time had past he was now able to fully control his aura abilities and demonstrated this to himself as he made himself a pair of darkblue aura shades to guard from the sun and he had his trenchcoat in his bag due to the heat. "Why would someone want a gym in such heat" he said to himself. After a few hours of walking he had reached the ruins of the area and began his search for the gym and called out. "Anyone here? I'm here for the gym i told was around here" He continued to search his baggy clothes hid his half pokemon traits slightly enough to fool those from a distance.
i am a man and i can change if i have to i guess.

| Exhaustion had begun to take its toll by the time the Lucario gijinka picked his way down the path through the Ishya Ruins to make his way to the gym, eye lids closing shut and – as was warned of before – her Flareon's neck fur being turned into a comfortable pillow. Yawning a little, almost as if to add to the whole “tired” effect, Lenny decided the it would take hours, days, at least, before anyone decided to check up on her there, and a little nap as a reward for the grueling task of clearing out rubble, setting up a tent, and painting a sign didn't sound bad by any stretch of the imagination. Slumber almost took her, too, fatigue nipping at her toes and threatening to drag her down into the abyss when a sudden noise just beyond the way hit her ears and had her up and on her feet in seconds. When it came to reflexes, she would never let herself be labeled as second best. Feu bolted upright, as well, startled by his trainer's sudden reaction and already sniffing the area for danger. The sound of rocks groaning under the weight of a persons' feet continued to echo throughout the non-radioactive safe zone, and pin pointing where the sounds were from made it easier to find who was making them. A young man, donned in baggy clothes and adorning shades, was searching around the rubble, somehow managing to miss the neutral-colored tent smack dab in the middle of the dome-like safe haven. Casting her Eeveelution a bewildered look and stifling a laugh when he shot her a face much the same, she figured it was probably time to approach him and see what he wanted. He couldn't possibly be there for the gym, right? It had only just opened approximately fifteen minutes ago! Or was the league doing that thing again when they'd send trainers her way without actually having confirmation of her being all set, causing her to have to turn them down and send them back on their way? Well, this guy was in luck; now, she could accept any challenge, and if that was what he was there for, she sure as heck was going to give it to him. “ Anyone here? I'm here for the gym I was told was around here,” he called, killing two birds with one stone in terms of confirmation. Word certainly did travel fast, it seemed; that, or the league was still trying to send her the message of “ hurry the heck up”. Without a doubt, though, she knew that he was here for a battle, and excitement began clawing up her spine. Approaching the stranger in long, casual, easy strides, she called out, “ Ay! Gym's right o'er there, buddy.” She jabbed her thumb over her should, pointing toward the tiny tent behind her to help direct his gaze in the right direction. “ And the gym leader? Well, yer lookin' at 'er!” Holding a hand out toward him, the offer for a handshake, the red head added, “ Leonora Dixon's the name, but yer gonna call me Lenny, ya' here? And what's your name s'posed ta' be, big shot?” |
