RILEY ORSUS
THE BASICS
"You stack up
Words like Knives that no longer cut"
"welcoming to the stage... um, what was your name again?"
My name is Riley, Riley Orsus, sweety. Don't forget it, because you'll be hearing that name soon enough. *winks*
"well, then, hello! now, this might seem rude, but... would you mind telling me your gender?"
*adjust bra* I was hoping you could tell, but I guess not. I'm a girl, babe. Nothing rude about it.
"sorry about that! now, can you tell me your age? birthdate? maybe even where you were born?"
I just turned Seventeen! Almost legal *blows kiss at interviewer* My birthday is May 10th, 1996. Oh, where I was born? I'm not really sure. My parents say somewhere in Hoenn, but you never know. I guess it's a mystery.
"i might have to get you a birthday present this year! that aside, with whom do you align yourself?"
Oh, my. I think I know what I want from you. I will be Eighteen, you know. *winks at interviewer*
Hm...*puts finger on chin* I guess...Lawful good. I love to stir up trouble, but I also don't want to harm people. Messing with their minds, and other parts of their body, is extremely fun. I would never harm a person, though. *in a childish voice* I'm a good girl. *suddenly hard* I will destroy anyone who gets in my way. Anyone. Whoo, got me a bit carried a way. Hah.
"so what's your occupation? got any special skills?"
Heh, special skills? I can show you..but the locale is a bit..Oh! Any special skills I have are a bit outside of battling or contests. I am a Coordinator. Coordinating is much more than being the strongest int the room. You can win a contest with sheer strength, but the odds of that happening are about as much as if Arceus came and high-fived you. Brain is definitely over brawn in contests, which I shine best.
"now, are you a canon character? or an original character?"
Babe, you are not going to find anyone like me, I can guarantee you that. I'm about as original as a snowflake.
THE APPEARANCE
"Although my hair looks good
'cause I haven't slept yet"
"can you tell me the shortest description of yourself as you can?"
Blue eyes, Brown hair, and a Black dress. You can always find me in the same style of outfit. Despite my soft and perfect skin, I have marks on my wrists that no one has seen. And no one will see. Also, My face is nice and innocent, but don't let that fool you: I can be quite...expressive of my Arceus-given features.
"what kind of clothing do you like best?"
Well, I love to put on a little black dress for all occasions. Nothing is better for flaunting your assets than a little black dress. Also, I love my white wrist-guards with it. It's a bit unorthodox, but not ugly.
"any defining physical traits?"
Well, I love to put on a little black dress for all occasions. Nothing is better for flaunting your assets than a little black dress. Also, I love my white wrist-guards with it. It's a bit unorthodox, but not ugly.
"what about the hair and the eyes?"
Oh! Yes! My eyes are a nice ocean blue with brown hair. My hair falls just above my elbows on my back, with shorter locks that go over my shoulders. Those usually are in front. I also have the cutest bangs that I brush to the side. They are longer than most bangs, but short enough to just work.
THE PERSONALITY
"Don't you tell her how I give you something
That you never even knew you missed"
"tell me a bit about how you act."
How I act? Well, I act like a normal person. I have my fun, erratic behaviour, and my sad, depressed behaviours. The things that separate my actions are usually the bad ones. *giggles* I come onto people way too much. But hey, I can't help it! It's me! I also never really take anything seriously. I tend to egg people on with a condescending attitude. I know where to draw lines, but they are usually a continent away from other's lines. I'm not all that bad, though! I'm smart and funny! I know how to help people with my tough love, and I can be extremely motivational. I know how to be strong in situations where others might crumble under the pressure. I may be hard and mean and cruel, but I am also compassionate, assiduous, and intelligent.
"hm... interesting. what are some things you like and don't like?"
I hate stupidity. I am stupid at times, but it's not on purpose. I like to fake people out. If you can't have a normal conversation, then what are you doing with your life? Also, I hate naive people. I get it, you think the world is all Jigglypuffs and Caterpies. Well, you're wrong. there are also Wigglytuffs and Beedrills. On the other extreme, life isn't just Lavender town and its Pokemon Tower. Get over yourself. Prudes, too, bother me. You have a body. Use it to your advantage. I don't care how uncomfortable you are with your body. Why suck other people into your life of self-consciousness and pity? Live life and then go home and cry. If you can't handle what I have to say or do, go home and cry now. Finally, people who get all huffy-puffy over the little comments. It's life. Arceus gave us life to live it. Not complain about the people who piss you off. If you don't like mine or anyone else's comments about you, change yourself or get over it. I'm not going to change, so you might as well.
Phew. Now, from one diatribe to the next. *laughs* I love pokemon that can be deceptive. My favourite pokemon are the ones that can do some serious damage and play with my opponents head at the same time. I usually like people who can stand up for themselves and not take themselves seriously. I think it's pretty obvious now, but I love to mess with people. I relish the moments when I creep someone out or throw them off guard. Does that make me sick? *busts out laughing* See, Darling, I like things that most don't. I like push comfort levels and watch people grow as humans. I like to push pokemon and see their strength, morale, and character shine once they bust out of their Pokeball.
"what are some fears and goals you've developed over the years?"
Well, sweety, funny you should ask both in the same question. My goals are to overcome mine and other's fears. I get afraid of very few things. But I do get afraid of some things. I hate spiders, mostly. They are the bane of my existence. My other goals include being the youngest girl in This region's history to win the Ribbon Cup
"got any quirks? and we all have some habits - what are yours?"
Quirks? Hah, I feel like I could go on forever about the weird things I do. Well, one thing is I like to take a word and make it sounds amazing. So, quirk! Another word could be idiosyncrasy. Cool, right? I know a few words like that and use it to show I ain't just a pretty face. My habits range from flirting to my pokemon. I have this weird thing where I hate to keep my pokemon in their pokeballs. Encapsulating them in those tiny things aren't very humane. So I usually have them all out with me. Most won't dare stray away from me, and the ones that do know not to wander off far. The leisure I give them is enforced. I may seem like some frivolous girl, but I'm much more decisive and calculated than you think.
THE HISTORY
"Show me the night
That I dreamed about before"
"now onto more... personal things. mind telling me who your parents were? any siblings?"
Well, I can tell you whatever you want to know, sweety. Let's start off with my parents. Listen up, you'll want to take all of this down.
From the cold depths in society as a poor street urchin, Sky met Aaron. Aaron, an up-and-coming doctor straight from Hoenn, who practiced specialized Pokémon medicine in Unova, was brought to Kanto for residency and possible employment from a huge company located in Saffron City, where business and technology were booming. Without knowing that the rest of Kanto was like, Aaron fell in love with everything the city had to offer. However, when he heard of all of the primitive lands that the rest of Kanto and Jhoto had, he was determined to ‘civilize’ it. When he met Sky, however, everything changed. Aaron met her while tending to he only Pokémon, a Delcatty. This Pokémon was unlike anything that could be seen in Kanto: it was so natural. This Pokémon was far stronger than regular Pokémon of its level he had seen. However, it had a power that was amazingly strong and resilient, even when on the verge of fainting. When the surgery was over, Sky and Aaron bonded over her pokemon’s unusual perseverance.
Days later, the two were inseparable. It was obvious how in-sync the two were. A few days later, Delcatty passed away. Delcatty was nearing its end, and Sky could not hold onto her much longer. Sky was crushed, and with it being her only Pokemon, she decided to give up. The ordeal only brought her and Aaron closer together, though. Sky soon moved to Kanto, Saffron City specifically, and began her life with Aaron. Aaron, however, had a few questions about Sky that never got answered.
Sky was beautiful, tall, and effervescent. Sky had the most beautiful blonde hair, which she never kept tied up in a pony tail. Sky's life was spontaneous, but it also had a dark side. She was a dedicated teenager, wanting to be a part of the order. That was her goal in life. She knew very well how to achieve her goal, and spent the night in the wilderness. After finding an egg, with a skitty inside, she vowed that she would have only skitty. Her naivete was admired by many, and frowned upon by the rest. She definitely had a great deal of work to do, but was doing fairly well. Sky was always testing herself, trying to push skitty to it's maximum performance. When she felt like skitty was strong enough, she evolved skitty into Delcatty. With this new power, delcatty and Sky destroyed many trainers in Jhoto. Sky was always very ostentatious and overzealous. She often tried pushing her luck on much harder foes, taking anyone who would fight her. One night, while visiting a local bar, Sky had been approached by an elderly man. From her own roots, she talked to this man for quite some time, despite his appearance, which most people would be thrown off by and more guarded. The man, though, had a particularly intriguing proposition that piqued Sky's interest. He wanted to battle Sky, and if she won, then he would give her a very valuable prize. The only caveat was that if she was to lose, she must leave Jhoto, her home region, Forever.
Sky thought this was the weirdest thing she ever heard, and right as she was about to say no, the man showed her the treasure, a bag of vitamins and supplements. "Wh-Where did you get those?" Sky said, as she recalls whenever she closes her eyes. Oddly, everything else after that seems to be a blur until her next vision of Delcatty on the floor, writhing in pain, with a Breloom standing over her. "You push your Pokemon too far; you don't respect Pokemon as Pokemon should be respected. Now stop burdening Jhoto with your selfish wants and Leave!" The man shouted. Then a boat appeared a few feet away. Sky got onto the boat and asked for a ride to Kanto, anywhere really. The man, weary, took time to convince, but a hysterical woman can convince anyone. They set forth to Fuschia City but got detoured to Saffron City and went to the nearest hospital. There, Then, while waiting, Sky saw a doctor looking at her. Not the generally perplexed face that was spread among everyone's face of the unfamiliar person invading their ER.
Eventually, they married and left Saffron City to see the world. At this time, somewhere, Riley was born. They went across the regions, learning new things and bringing it back to Saffron City where Aaron became Cheif Executive at the hospital.
Did you get all of that? I know, a lot. I don't have any other relatives--well, yes. I do. He's my half-brother from my Dad's side. I don't really know him, so I can't describe him. His name is Dark or Darkness or something.
"anyone else of importance in your life?"
I had a friend, who was my everything. He was the nicest person one could meet. He loved every weird and fragrant thing about me. *laughs* I miss him. He left to be trainer or breeder or something. He kind of vanished, but he said he'd be back. I really hope so. I miss him, a lot.
"now, tell me about your past. don't leave out any details!"
Well, ok! You asked!
Well, I grew up in Saffron City, like a normal child, after my parents and I returned from our multi-region excursion. I was in a rich family, so I never experienced any strife. I grew up with two loving parents and a lot of time to myself. I was precocious and effervescent, the perfect mix of my parents. I had brown hair like my father and blue eyes like my mother. My parents were incredibly happy with me. I always had friends and was the popular one in school. I was also one of the smartest in my class. I never experienced anything bad until...until I was taken. At this time in my life, I was right in the most prosperous city in Kanto, technology-wise. Also, it was the height of the Team rocket dilemma. I didn't know, and one day found myself in the worst situation ever.
I went to surprise dad at work one day. He was so busy lately and stressed because of all of these new pokemon being hurt. I bought him some glitter mail with a beautiful note in there, signed by his daughter who loves him. *Hands start shaking* U-Um..When I got in, I went up a couple of stair to see him. I was tackled to the floor and fainted. When I awoke I was locked in a storage closet with cuffs on my arm extremely tight. I still had the glitter mail. I tried to escape, but every movement of my arms cut deeper and deeper into my wrists. I writhed in pain for an eternity until someone found me. The glitter mail was smudged everywhere with blood. *takes a deep breath* Sorry, I don't usually say this story.
I changed after that day. My helplessness was never going to be like that again. I quickly took my fear and pain and turned it into motivation. No one thought I changed, but I did. A fire burned inside of me that wasn't there before. I had my 'friends,' but no real friends to whom I could talk. I needed...a friend, but I had none. Well, until I met Cara Alere. Cara, who is a boy, despite his name, is exactly what his name means: Friend.
Cara was a lot like me, but he had friends that were actually his friend. Cara and I never really hit it off. I was too bombastic and obnoxious for Cara's liking--his words, not mine--, and Cara was too mellow and naive for me. We eventually became acquaintances. One day, I wasn't feeling very well. My body was not cooperating with me.
I decided to leave school and go home. I couldn't just walk off, so I went to the woods adjacent to where my school was and hid there. About an hour or so, I decided to leave and go home when I saw a Mankey. Mankey, which are crazy pokemon, attacked me! I was so afraid! I screamed and ran away. I tripped a few times and ripped one of my wristbands. I could see my scars, ugly and repugnant. I ran and ran until I found the daycare. I was dirty and bruised up a bit, but otherwise fine. The daycare lady kindly helped clean me up and wash out my scar. It seemed to have opened up a little and was in need of medicine. No problem to me.
It turned into a problem when I saw Cara bust through the door of the daycare house. I jumped from a mix of the pain and the sheer fear of someone seeing it. When Cara saw, I was sure would tell everyone. I would be the outcast. I picked up my stuff, my bag, and got the hell out of there.
The next day I walked to school and everything was normal. No one asked anything. I had a new set of black wrist-guards. I hated them. They were so ugly, but it was all I had until I could get new ones. I walked throughout school feeling like something should happen. But nothing did. I was anticipating something, but I didn't know what. At the end of the day, I saw Cara walking towards me. I instantly turned around to escape and faceplanted a door. It hurt so much. I grabbed my nose and turned around To Cara's face. This was it, I thought. I would be humiliated by Cara.
Instead, he gave me two wristbands. "Sorry for what happened. I got these for you, so no one will know you were..." Cara didn't finish his sentence, nor has he ever finished it. I still don't know what he was about to say. I hugged him, and we became inseparable ever since.
When we graduated and began our journey, we stayed behind a few days. I wanted to say my goodbyes later. I wanted to stay with him. One day before we were supposed to set off on different paths, I got a note. He was gone. We would meet one day. *Tears up*
I never got to say goodbye, but I didn't need to. I knew I would be strong without him. I will meet him one day. I left for here the next day. Now here I am.

"one line of lyrics here"
"now, let's talk to the maker of this wonderful character. what's your name, sweetheart?"
Call me Dark! Lut (Loot) is fine, too.
"mind telling me how old you are?"
I'm the same age as Riley: Seventeen! Birthday, too.
"mhm. now, what words would you like under your username? for the mini-profile, that is."
When the Sun Dies, the Party comes Alive
"how long have you been doing what you're doing?"
Um, I just started about a month ago!
"can you show us how you write? something up to date, too!"
Another of my characters work:
"The rustles within the forest seemed to tell him that now it was finally time for the trial. Dark, eager to get away from all of these eggs, with their parents probably not far away, maneuvered his way through the plethora of nests. Dark’s eyes had still not grown accustomed to the darkness. It seems his eyes were so used to the city lights and brightness that it would take much longer to be able to see enough to make his way through the forest.
Just then, like some cruel joke, Dark did not have to make his way through the forest just yet. His foot had gotten caught on—in? He really didn’t know. Dark squirmed and moved his foot to get out, but that only made things worse. After a few more movements, the ground shifted. Next thing he knew, he was on the ground in some cavern. Dark could see small hole that let in the smallest amount of starlight, enough to see that he and the egg were ok. Well, Dark was in a great deal of pain due to the small rocks that had stabbed him in the back, but he was not dead or disabled. As long as he was mobile and conscious, he was perfectly fine.
As Dark looked around the cavern, he could see very little; all he really knew was there was little chance of escape via where he came in. But was this really that bad? Dark was safe, for now. There was no Pokémon down here, for all he knew, and it is highly unlikely one will come down here. Still, if one were to come down here…he would be a sitting duck. He had to leave; he had to protect his egg.
Walking around the cavern seemed futile. Dark couldn’t see anything! There was barely an outline of everything. There must be an exit somewhere. Dark felt around the room until he felt an opening. It wasn’t very big, but it should be able to fit him and his egg.
Wait…there was something wrong. What kind of animal could make something like this? There was a hole not too much bigger than himself, but it obviously wasn’t for him, so who? Dark was way too naïve and uneducated for this. How do you not know which Pokémon normally dig? That egg is as good as dead!
As if the egg heard Dark’s internal conflict, it started to grab his attention. Feeling his egg’s pain and disconcertion, he quickly quelled any insecurities he had and tried to think of any Pokémon he had read about that could dig. A dugtrio, or even an excadrill, could probably dig places like that. A trapinch, even, was able to, but trapinch usually are not big enough to make holes this wide. Onix was too big. Dark’s mental list was quickly running out, and if this cave or cavern was made by a Pokémon, it would probably not like an intruder, whoever it was. This was the only way out, though, and he was not going to wait until some Pokémon saw the hole and his egg and decided it wanted a midnight snack.
What time was it? Time was totally out of whack in Ieros.
“Let’s try our luck in this hole, I guess.” Dark said, as if to tell his egg of exactly what was going on. The egg, however, did not respond. It was relatively warm, so why wouldn’t it speak to him? Did it not like him? He only heard the egg once, and then it would fall silent. Did the egg think it was weak? That he could not help it and survive the night? Dread fell over Dark as he started through the tunnel. Only time would tell if he could survive the night."
(Sorry! The other post was...wrong? I activated my account, but it obviously didn't say so when I posted. Sorry! You can just delete that other one. They are identical.)
