LENA AVERY KIPLER
THE BASICS
"Good feeling, won't you stay with me just a little longer?"
"welcoming to the stage... um, what was your name again?"
Lena Avery Kipler.
"well, then, hello! now, this might seem rude, but... would you mind telling me your gender?"
Umm, yes, that is an odd question. I’m female.
"sorry about that! now, can you tell me your age? birthdate? maybe even where you were born?"
Slow down, please. Let’s just take this one question at a time. I’m twentytwo. My birthday is February 18th and I was born in a hospital.
"i might have to get you a birthday present this year! that aside, with whom do you align yourself?"
Oh, you don’t need to do that; though a box of chocolate-covered strawberries would never be unappreciated. I’m neutral neutral.
"so what's your occupation? got any special skills?"
Breeder
"now, are you a canon character? or an original character?"
Original.
THE APPEARANCE
"It always seems like you're leaving when I need you here just a little longer"
"can you tell me the shortest description of yourself as you can?"
Oh, okay. I have short blonde hair, a round face, I’m a bit on the short sight, but not terribly. Is that too long of a description?
"you got a face claim? wanna share it with the world?"
ROSE LALONDE, HOMESTUCK as Lena Kipler.
"what kind of clothing do you like best?"
Neutral-tones, comfortable clothing, though I do love lilac-colored shirts and headbands, I usually wear tennis shoes, jeans, tshirts, and soft jackets if it’s even a little cold.
"any defining physical traits?"
Well, some would say my eyes are an odd shade; they’re purple. I’m a little short, as I said, but that’s about it.
"what about the hair and the eyes?"
Purple eyes, chin-length, bright blonde hair.

"what are some fears and goals you've developed over the years?"
Her goal would just be to have everything stay exactly the way it is and for her to be helpful in some way. Her greatest fear is *wait for it* change. She also hates the unknown and the dark.
"got any quirks? and we all have some habits - what are your's?"
She never changes her watch for daylight savings; she says it would be too much work, she keeps a journal and will often read over some of her favorite days from the past, when she’s nervous, she’ll pull out one of the various photos in her wallet and just stare at it, she’s often fingering said photos since her wallet’s always in her pocket.
THE HISTORY
"Little voice says I'm going crazy to see all my worlds disappear"
"now onto more... personal things. mind telling me who your parents were? any siblings?"
No siblings. My parents were Nora and Michael Kipler.
"anyone else of importance in your life?"
My grandmother, Avery Livingston. She died about a year ago.
"now, tell me about your past. don't leave out any details!"
Lena never knew her mother since she died not long after she was born, but she has a picture of her and her father used to tell her all about her, so much so that she misses her. Her father and her traveled around a lot; every few years they would have to move to a new place. Lena never knew why but it caused her to fear change; change was a new school full of children who stared as you walked by and teachers who didn’t like you and houses that didn’t feel like home. Change was creaky doors and a new batch of monsters under the bed and new nightmares. Change was one step further from her mother.
Her grandmother came to live with them after awhile since she was too ill to live alone. Lena loved her grandmother, who told her stories about when she was a child. Her grandma made the past sound like such a lovely place that Lena longed for a time she’d never known.
Her grandma’s illness was contagious and both she and her father caught it soon after the lady came to live with them. Lena soon recovered, but her father did not and Change became one more dreadful thing. Change was her father growing paler and paler and thinner and thinner as he died before her eyes, and there was nothing she could do about it. Lena felt helpless against the icy, unfeeling claws of Change.
Her grandmother died within a year of moving in with them, and her father died a few months later. Change was being alone. Change was viewing a corpse that Change was done with and had flung away, to change no more, to move no more. Change was being alone and friendless and finding a way to survive by herself. Change was being forced to leave the house her grandma and father died in and moving away.

The Castle of the Sky might seem like a strange meeting place to some but to Ulixes, it made sense. It was highly unlikely anyone else would be lurking around to bother him; few were brave enough to wander the halls of the castle, and even fewer had enough wits not to be killed by one of the many dragons that claimed the castle as their home. But Ulixes and his sister were different; Ulixes was sure of it. Dragons seemed child’s play compared to their childhood.
Ulixes hadn’t been nervous for a long time, but now, he was nervous. He hadn’t seen his sister for years and he found himself actually caring about what she thought of him. He hoped he hadn’t become weak in the time that they’d been separated. It angered him how much his hands shook. He clenched them and took to pacing. He wondered if she’d still have that green hair of hers, or if she’d be able to recognize him. He hadn’t changed much, but he’d grown half a foot taller.
Finally, he saw a figure approaching the castle. He couldn’t even tell if the person was green-headed from so far away; he didn’t care. He ran down the steps to the castle’s door. But the stranger wasn’t his sister; just some boy who kept glancing over his shoulder. Ulixes sulked back into the castle, feeling like a fool for rushing down. What would Nikki have though, if it had been her and he’d come racing down to greet her like that, like some impatient child? That wouldn’t do if he wanted Nikki to be proud of him.
He wondered if his sister had already arrived and was somewhere within the castle’s chambers, looking for him, so he started meandering around the dark stones and shadows of the first floor’s rooms.
In one of the rooms he heard quite a ruckus. Upon entering, he saw some suited guy battling a dragon. He moved on, unwilling to help when he still had his sister to find.
Room after room after room, and still no sign of the green haired girl who had raised Ulixes. Eventually, he couldn’t remember which rooms he’d checked and which rooms she might be in; they all looked the same and it began to dawn on him that he was lost. When he finally happened upon Suit Guy again, his impatience had over ruled his normal antipathy for people.
“Hey,” he said to the man, who was kneeling next to a dead dragon and trying to clean his sword (dragon-blood stains are impossible to remove), “any chance you’ve seen a lady pass by with green hair? Or any girl at all?”
The man had light blonde hair and dark-lensed glasses. Everything about him seemed absurdly stupid and out of place to Ulixes; who wears suits to fight dragons? And who wears sunglasses inside such a dark building? Ulixes sneered at him as he awaited an answer, but the man’s face was as emotionless as a piece of driftwood. Ulixes already hated him.
