Ian brightened up immediately as Claire gave them the OK to travel together, even if it was just a test run. The twinkle in his eye returned, as did the excitement in his voice. "Thanks A lot Claire! I promise you wont regret giving us this chance!" he said, giggling a little bit gleefully. Not only did he make new friend,s he made new traveling companions as well!
As Claire sent out her Pokemon his eyes went even wider with barely contained excitement. They sounded so cool! Looked so cool! Did her magnemite sound a bit effeminate? Probably his imagination, but who cared! This was incredible!
He was all smiles and happiness...tell Daisy sent out her Pokemon. The minute he saw that green arachnid, Ian's eyes went wide, and he paled considerably, staring in fright at the Spinarak. Oh Arceus, not a spinarak...
"Uh oh" Ace piped up, seeing the look on his trainers face, knowing what it exactly meant. He turned quickly to the audino, taking her hand in his wing and giving her a soft peck on the back of her hand. "We'll need to continue our discussion later My lady. for now, I need to go give my trainer a shot of courage. Tell then" he said, winking, quickly flying over to Ian's side, getting in the way of the spinarak. "Focus on the battle, not the bug Hmm?" he said, smiling at Ian, easily his height and taller. HE knew Ian wouldn't understand, but the feeling carried through right?
Ian blinked, slowly coming back into focus, looking at Ace. he gave a small smile and hugged the big bird quickly, turning to face Claire. "S-S-S-Sorry about t-t-t-that" he said, stuttering horribly as he reached for his pokeball. With her two picks, there was only one choice. "C-C-C-Come one out Lillianna" he said, tossing the ball up and releasing the houndour onto the battlefield.
The canine Pokemon blinked, looking around, sniffing, then turning to her trainer. "Hey Ian! Is everything OK?" she asked, walking up and nuzzling his hand, then turning to see the two new girls. Two...girls....HUH?! She blinked, looking back and forth, then back to him. "W-Whats going on Ian?! When did you meet two girls?!" she barked, looking really surprised.
"L-L-Listen Lillianna. T-These are my new friends. C-Claire, and D-Daisy" he said, shakily gesturing each one in turn, avoiding looking at the spinarak. "Y-Your teaming up with Daisy's Pokemon to battle Claire's. Sound good?"
The houdour blinked, processing what was going on slowly, then nodding, turning to look at Daisy's Pokemon, then understanding all the stuttering. Bad luck. Ah well, sh turned, bowing her head to each trainer, then taking a stance, merely waiting to start.

Claire tared across at the two new Pokemon. She wan't an Ace Trainer, but she was pretty sure she was at a disadvantage here. So she'd have to be careful, " Your Pokemon are so neat!" Claire giggled, then stepped back from Gracia and Zone, giving them room to battle. She tried to remember their individual abilities. Abigail blinked, watching the Pidgeot take her paw and peck it. Just what did this youngster think he was getting into? She gave him a soft smile as he walked away to calm Ian from an apparent spider fight. Fears weren't one thing she could cure, and it looked like he had enough comfort for now. The Audino moved to Claire, took her own Heal Ball from her belt, and put herself back up. The ball hit her with a red light, opened, collected her, then dropped to the grass. Claire turned as Abby did this, then smiled, taking her ball and returning it to her belt. These two Trainers, or however they classified themselves. And if they were going to travel together, they'd need to know more about each other. But for now.. onto business. Grace looked over at the Spinarak, then the Houndour, curiosity plastered all over her face, " New friends?" The Petilil looked around at Claire quizzically, young eyes sparkling with hope. With her nod, the Grass type squealed in happiness and bounced up and down. Oh she could battle, and would, but until they started she was just going to be hyperactive. Zone was still searching, single eye glancing to and fro, and even at its companion's excitement seemed to be struggling to get the energy itself to battle. [ "Target Acquired"] it voiced, with Sike and Lillianna being the obvious targets. A sound midway into the register of a set of chimes and a girlish giggle came fro mthe Magnemite, followed by a steadying of its floating patterns. Claire was actually getting excited for this! More friends, more chances to prove she was more than a medic really, even if she hated violence. " So, who's first?" the morph asked. Not as well initiated into Pokemon battling as she'd like, but not naive to it either. (Hint: Click Zone's speech)

Daisy watched as Ian nearly had a nervous break down at the sight of her pokemon. He was afraid of Spinaraks? She really hoped that Sike hadn't noticed, then again maybe he had, she couldn't tell with that naughty spider. She gave a sigh of relief as Ace stepped in front of Ian to calm the trainer down. "I... I'm sorry, I had no idea that you had a fear of Bugs Ian... Or is it just Spinaraks in particular? I'll try to keep him out of your hair if that'll help..." Hearing Claire she turned eagerly spun around and grinned in delight. "Yours are super neat too!" The girl smiled as her partner was able to reveal his pokemon, though the stuttering may be a problem during battle. A Houndour... that was a fire type right? They'd definitely need one to face a steel type like Magnemite. Ground may be stronger against its type combination, but then there was Magnet Rise to consider in the equation. "So is your Houndour Ian."
She shook her head and tried to refocus herself on the battle ahead, especially on the Petilil. That was after all the reason she had picked out Sike in the first place, it definitely wasn't that Magnemite or she might've picked Scorch instead. Actually picking Scorch may have been a much smarter idea, with her being strong against both of Claire's pokemon. Not to mention she probably wouldn't have psyched Ian out the way Sike had. Thinking of Sike, she started to look, for him in hope that he hadn't noticed, Ian's reaction before.
Sike had definitely caught Ian's reaction as he'd been looking around, a sharp and mischievious grin crossing his face spots as he scurried through the grass towards him. A good scare wasn't always in the cards, but he really liked to take advantage of them when they came along. The spider was about to string shot his way onto Ian's shirt when Daisy moved in his way "Ah... ah ah ah. No you don't, You're not about to scare that boy worse than he already is, especially not before a battle. Now get back over there and prepare for the fight." She stomped her foot down and points to the area between them and Claire. Sike made a sad face with his back skittered off back towards where the battle was to take place. Looking over his shoulder he chittered quietly at his trainer,"Spoil Sport..." Draca put her hand to her ear and replied "What? I don't think I heard you..." "I'm... sorry?" "That's what I thought you said."
The Eeveemorph turned her attention back to her fellow trainers. Claire just asked who would go first, that was really an excellent question. Typically they'd go at the same time, and let speed decide, but there wasn't an officiator here. "Hmmmmmms we have you at a type advantage, so I will vote for you going first... Though we are are at the disadvantage of two trainers against one. I bet your pokemon will have a much easier time with teamwork."

Ian blushed embarrassedly and rubbed his shoulder as Daisy apologized for Sike. "I-Its OK. Its not something that comes up often outside Illex forest. I'm really sorry to cause problems" He said, giving Daisy an apologetic smile. His stupid fear coming up in a place like this with new friends. It wasn't fair. Still, there was a battle to conduct.
Ian turned as Sike made the mad dash for him, totally oblivious of Daisy stepping in to save the day. Ian's Pokemon however, were not so oblivious. Both ace and Lilianna shot the arachnid a death glare, not approving at all of that little stunt. Lilianna in particular smoked at the nostrils a bit before turning to the other Pokemon, smiling and wagging her tail in a friendly fashion. "Hi! My names Lilianna, I hope i get to know you better after the battle" she said, taking a stance and waiting.
Ian pondered, rubbing his chin and nodding slowly, smiling at Claire. "I'm with Daisy, you go first. Its only fair" he said, smiling, eyes gleaming with excitement. His first battle with his new friends. This was going to be really fun!

Claire watched the commotion with the Spinarak, then lowered her ears again. " Let's all get along now." she giggled, looking between Gracia and Zone and wondering what to do. Both of them were offering her the first move. She had no device like a Pokedex to tell her about the other Pokemon, so just had to go on instinct. " Oh oh! Hiiiii!" Grace called back to Lillianna, bouncing in lieu of any real form of greeting. Zone waggled on of its magnets like a hand and did that odd chiming/giggling sound again, but both seemed quite excited, though that was Gracia's natural state. " Okay.. let's see..." Claire called out.. thinking. She wanted until both Daisy and Ian were ready and their Pokemon attentive, then pointed a finger forwards, smiling, " Zone, Lock-On to the Houndour! Grace, Sweet Scent!" she said it with enough of a commanding voice to dictate the moves, at least, even if she was normally peaceful. Zone complied, turning to face the Houndour that called herself Lillianna. As it focused its sight on her, reading its movements, it spoke up in its mechanical, almsot feminine voice again. [ "There you are."] The hyperactive Petilil, meanwhile, stopped her bouncign and giggling and beamed, swaying the leaves on her head, the aroma of Sweet Scent wafting through the grass to both of Claire's opponents, which would hopefully make her get hit less! Yush!

Daisy nodded and smiled softly to Ian, her cheeks turning a brighter shade of pink again, "Really.. It's not a problem at all, he can be such a pain when he wants to be... Why am I cursed with such an illbehaved pokemon..." She shook her head and sighed. Meanwhile Sike was still going at his misbehavior, his spots making a jeering face at Ace and Lily, before continuing to move into position. The moment he sees Lily turn her back on him, and greet the other pokemon he puts his front to the ground and thorax in the air and shakes it around like a tail, actually mocking typical canine behavior.
Daisy was not amused pinching the bridge of her nose she gave another sigh at Sike's behavior. "Sike keep it up and you're going to Professor Pine's Lab... I mean really, do you have to act up every time I turn my back on you? Can you please just get focused on the battle?" The pokemon turned to her, and actually looked guilty. His tiny head drooped towards the ground for a moment before turning back to the battle at hand. Daisy had to admit, he may not have apologized, but that look of guilt was a good sign he wanted to stay.
Soon the two were ready for battle and just in the nick of time it seemed as Claire started to command her pokemon. Zone focusing on Houndour was a good sign, though that Sweet Scent sure wasn't. She had first hand experience of what that move could do to bug types like Sike, something about it just slowed them down like iron weights. "Sike get off the ground now! Use Agility to climb that tree!" She pointed at the one right above them, and the spinarak jumped up the trunk to get away. He disappeared from sight for a moment while racing ahead of the cloud of pollen, and hid in the branches above.

Ian smiled back at Daisy, chuckling nervously as she apologized, nodding his head. "I-I-Its fine. I j-j-just need to be careful is all" he said, turning his head to the battle. He needed to focus. He may not be the best battler but he'd show them both a thing or two, that much he knew for sure!
The jeer didn't go un noticed, Lilianna growled at the spider reluctantly turning her head to the front, trying to focus on the impending battle. She didn't miss the other motion by the spiniarak and kicked a small pebble back his way with her hind foot, smirking back at the bug.
When attacks were called however she turned her head just in time to catch the sweet scent, blinking and shaking herself off. The effect persisted, and she found herself wanting more and more to smell the air...
"L-Lilianna, quick use flamethrower!"
The houdour blinked again then shook her head vigorously growling and shooting a jet of flame at the magnemite. Sneaky little devils using tricks like that to keep her rooted.

Claire was forced, unfortunately, to watch two battles at once. The misty clouds of sweet-smelling stuff her Petilil gave off was avoided by one, and not the other. It's a start at least. She focused on the Houndour then, but kept an eye on where the Spinarak had jumped to as well. Never hurt to watch all of the opponents, or so her mother would say. Then there was the Flamethrower to deal with, which Claire followed cautiously. " Zone! Dodge it and use Zap Cannon, Full Power!" she thrust her fist out dramatically, though why she did that she couldn't have told you. She turned to little Gracia and said, " Grace, Sweet Scent again. Really dull the senses!" The Petilil did this happily, spinning this time to get that sweet-smelling scent higher, trying to follow the Spinarak, but also to affect Lillianna. The latter would just be easier to hit with it more than likely, being affected already. As she did this, Zone rolled in midair, no friction to stop him twirling aside with a [ "Wheeeeeee."]. As soon as it stopped, sparks erupted from its rapidly spinning magnets, caressing the metal ball of its core before condensing into a ball of multicolored electricity and firing. Due to the Lock-On, it would fly straight for Lillianna.

Sike was enjoying his perch, nice and safe up in the tree. Daisy was watching the action between the Zone and Lilliana, that was going to be a close one. Lock-On meant that the powerful move Claire had just called would most likely make its mark, but the Houndour's flamethrower if it hit would be even more painful to Zone. Sike watched as well taking joy in seeing the magnemite try to avoid the flames that licked at its magnets, but even more so at the large ball of electricity that had just fired off at the pup. "HAH!"
Daisy soon saw what looked like the perfect opening against that Petilil, it was just spinning in circles as it released another spray of pollen... It Might slow Sike down if he got hit, but this was just the perfect opportunity to get off a hit. Then a light bulb went off in her head and she couldn't help but snicker. This plan would be brilliant. "Sike dive straight down on that Petilil with your Sucker Punch!" Daisy grinned, if the plan could go off without a hitch, this battle would be over in no time at all.
Sike grinned, almost sensing what his Trainer had planned, and sucker punch was always a good way to start off a day, even if it wouldn't do any damage. He suddenly threw himself out of the tree, and plummeted straight at the tiny grass type. The sickly sweet scent soon started to get to him as he dropped through its clouds. He started to feel the effect, wanting to sniff at the scent strongly, but NO! The source of that scent would be his! He chittered ominously as he pulled his legs in tight, ready to hit that petilil with his horn, wanting desperately to nom on that grass type.

Well that was unexpected. The dodge of the admittedly graceful magnemite left her wide open for the zap cannon. She howled out in pain as the electricity smacked into her, leaving static coursing throughout her body, making her paralyzed for the duration of the fight, seriously hampering her.
Ian's eyes went wide as he saw the electricity course through Lilianna. "L-Lilianna! T-Try using flamethrower again!" he commanded, trying to get the houdour to break free of the paralyzation.
The houdour tried, but between the sweet scent and electricity, was unable to move this round, hunched over with electricity crackling round her, gritting her teeth as she tried her best to move even one inch of her body. Not a good start to the match

As fun as this was, Claire was amazed she was doing so well. She hardly understood it, though, and winced as she saw that electrical attack hit. Paralysis was such a nasty thing.. At least she could heal it! "Great job, Zone."
he praised her Magnemite, and then turned to see where the Spinarak had went, and was now going. She gasped, but it was just that protective nature in her. She managed not to step forward and try to help, and was right in doing so. Gracia didn't need it. She spun and spun, but eventually fell over with a little "Oof!", completely avoiding that Sucker Punch, even as fast as it had been.
"Zone! Lock-On to the Spinarak." she said out, and he turned from watching the paralyzed Houndour to do so, focusing on the agile opponent. Claire saw the dizzy Gracia get to her feet.. or stems, or whatever the little Petilil used really, then smiled, "Grace, Aromatherapy.. on Lillianna!" She pointed at the Houndour.
Grace looked utterly confused, but Claire looked determined, so she bounced away as fast as she could from Sike and felt her three top leaves glowing with a pulsing aura. She sent that pulse to Lillianna, which would fix that nasty paralysis right up. "Here you are!"

Sike had missed by mere inches as Gracie fell over onto her side, and the way he had been positioned kept him from being able to land perfectly. Sike winced a bit as he landed on his horn, digging the tip into ground. He cried out and flailed, soon falling onto his back he rolled over ready to nom on that Plant. Wait... Where had she gone?
Daisy was watching the battle close, and that zap cannon looked painful. The sparks flying off of Ian's pokemon made wince, then she heard the call for Lock-On on Sike, that... that was not good, but it was completely unavoidable at this point. She turned her attention back to her spiderling, and was aghast as she saw the petalil hopping away and Sike stuck in the ground. He was a sitting duck for that next Zap Cannon, or well he would have been till he fell over. Well that was good at least.
Daisy pointed in the direction of the petilil as she cried out, "Sike now that you have your head out of that hole in the ground, Follow after that petalil as fast as you can! When you catch her wrap her up in string shot, then keep a good tight hold!" This was her plan, if she could get Sike within range, the Stringshot would keep him there, and then it'd be all over for that lil grass type.
Sike grinned with his spots and chased after her, moving faster than she could. Drats, he thought, with her headstart he couldn't catch up to her fast enough to keep that damned mutt from being healed. But at least he could keep her in range now... He grinned at that thought and jumped at the Petilil, trying to land on her as he shot out a length of string to wrap like a lasso around her waist. Oh this was going to be good.

Both Liliana and Ian blinked as grace used aroma therapy, curing the houdours paralysis. Ian looked at Claire and gave her a puzzled look, wondering what her game was. "U-Um thanks?" he said, blushing and looking back to the battle, trying not to look at the spinarak in the fight. Dangerous since it was technically his partner but he'd freeze up! "Flamethrower on zone Liliana!"
The houdour blinked, then looked at the little petlil, bowing her head and flashing her a smile. "Thanks!....now if you excuse me" she said turning her gaze to zone, inhaling then launching a furious fame thrower to try and catch him while his gaze was turned. Zap cannon her would he?

Grace smiled up at the canine, about to comment, only to be hit by some icky, sticky stuff! And now there apparently was a spider on her! She let out an shrill, ear-splitting scream and hopped, albeit slower, around the legs of the Houndour, tryign to rub the webbing off of her! " Aiiiiee! Get it off! it's gonna eat me!!" " Zone! Zap Cannon! Get that Spinarak off of her!" Claire yelled, panic pouring into her. The Magnemite had its own problems though, like being engulfed in a torrent of flame as it tried to dodge the Flamethrower a second time. [ "Owwww"] the metallic voice screamed, laced with pain that Claire wasn't sure how a non-organic being felt. But pain it was. It did manage, as it was falling, to fire that Zap Cannon. The direction was off, but the locked on attack simply swerved and flew towards Sike as Zone rolled around for a moment trying to use the grass to cool its overheated body. Gracia was still screaming though, and running around, defense mechanisms kicking in and the little plant Pokemon spraying Sleep Powder all over the place. Unfortunately, she was still hopping slowly around Lillianna, and the intended target was instead switched to her.

Sike grabbed onto the grass type, gripping her tightly with all six of his spindly yellow legs, and started to nibble on the leaves on her head. The moment that the tiny grass type started to run around that blasted Houndour's legs. He chittered angrily, trying to pin her, trying to pull the strings tighter as he wrapped his leg in it "Hi Ho Greeny!"
Daisy almost laughed at her pokemon's behavior and the fact that the Houndour's Flamethrower had worked. She watched as the flames licked at the magnemite, and hoped hard that the Zap Cannon Claire had called wouldn't be able to hit its mark, that looked nasty on Lilly, it would be even worse if it hit her frail lil spider. When it was released, she winced, knowing it would hit its mark and she shirked away from looking as it slammed with dead aim into Sike's back, sending electrical currents coursing through him and the Gracie.
Finally looking back Gracie sighed heavily as the tiny hopping plant type seemed almost unphased by the attack, whereas Sike was wincing and holding on tight to her, his real eyes closed, spots contorted in pain, and sparks flying off of him. That was so not a pretty sight, but she still had hope that he could move. "Sike, If you're still able to move. Use Poison Jab on Petalil!"
Sike gave a low whimper and tried to move his limbs. The static was still painful as it washed through him, greatly reducing his speed, but he was still on her and still able to move. As he thought about how this may work, he pulled back his other foreleg, and with it glowing purple whispered to her, "Get ready for the pain!"
