Angel Heights was much more beautiful than its description. Clouds floated through the mountain range, broken occassionally by the peaks of each mountain. Elena watched as a flock of Swablu and Altaria flew over the ledge she, her Eevee, and Ryan all stood on. The researcher noticed the Eevee staring up at the flying Pokemon, almost as if she was envious of them soaring through the air without a care in the world. “Don't worry, Eden,” Elena reassured. “You won't be jealous long. We're gonna make you fly.”
She had spent the night before thinking of what Eden would look like when she evolved. Would she sprout wings? Change color? Among these thoughts, she had also come up with a name for the new Eeveelution. “Breezeon...” she sighed. “We're gonna make you a Breezeon, Eden...” Her plan had not really changed, making her nervous that it would not work. But she could not focus on that. Trial and error was always a big part of science. This new Eeveelution had to happen. If she could evolve Eden, then she could evolve all the others. She felt a little better.
Turning to Ryan behind her, Elena asked, “Think this is high enough? I'm not sure how much higher I can go. I should probably exercise more, I know, but not today, please?” The researcher was really glad the breeder was there with her. She knew she would be safe so long as he was there with her. Plus, he was the one who had encouraged her the most, aside from her parents, since she began her research. He had been the one to inspire her to go to Angel Heights to discover Breezeon. She couldn't ask for a better friend...

If there was one thing that Will actually liked it was order. Something planned, set, and simple to follow that led to a sure result. Like a formula for instance. It allowed focus and clarity to give a certain answer. Everything could be solved in a properly ordered formula. However, despite the illusion of perfection structure gave, it was flawed in its precision. It didn't allow for mistakes. There was neither nothing more nor nothing less, only what was and is. If the boundaries were crossed there was no way to adapt to them because it hadn't been accounted for. This wasn't about order anymore. This was going to be pure chaos. There was no longer a set path for them to follow. They would have to isolate an abundance of variables which would hopefully lead to an undiscovered result.
It was like trying to add in a new law of physics in a way.
So while the breeder liked the idea of structure for what it seemed to symbolize, He could not rely on it now. The blanks and variables would have to be solved in trial and error for a formula and then the formula would have to be applied. With an underlying tension, the man glanced at his two companions. One a woman with a thirst for knowledge similar to his own and the other a starting point for the experiments to come. They weren't the cause for his tension though. He could practically feel the wildlife around him and it called out to him, whispering sweet nothings as well as gentle threats. His ears caught the beating of wings and his eyes followed to the source, tracking some Swablu and Altaria. A glint of hunger entered his eyes, but he held back.
Flying pokemon and dragon types no less. As rare as that type was, the species itself left much to be desired. A solid defense was certain, but would they be able to stand against Hresvelgr, his Braviary? Will would have liked nothing more than to test it. However, he had yet to reveal any of his pokemon to Elena. The woman had decided to take the scenic route here not that he cared. It allowed them time to plan out what they would do to inspire her Eevee in more detail. With a deep breath and its release, he let go of the impulse. His eyes left them and turned to take in Elena at her question. Was it high enough, he also wondered? Will could always get them to a higher spot even without the woman having to walk. He could either outright carry her or fly.
Still, he wouldn't force her to do anything strenuous if she didn't want to. That wasn't his task. Then a sudden thought hit him. Maybe he could solve two tasks with one effort. "We can start on the mentality from here," he said as his hand closed around a pokeball. "Hresvelgr, show them how battles in the sky go." A brilliant red beam shot from the sphere, twisting and molding until it took form. A massive bird like pokemon took to the sky with a furious beat from his wings and a shrill battle cry. A wingspan of blue and red feathers that were two bodies long easily carried it headlong with impressive speeds straight toward the ground of wild fliers.
To all onlookers it blurred even as the wild creatures began to acknowledge that the cry from before might not have been friendly. Hresvelgr crashed mercilessly into one of the leading Altaria with an opening Aerial Ace maneuver which scattered the others. The dragon began to careen towards the ground even as the others reacted. Intense torrents of Dragonbreath followed from the few other dragons among them as the Swablu scattered, knowing the battle was beyond anything they could hope to match. The Braviary soared between the trails of ire easily, rising higher before once plummeting straight down onto the back of the first dragon he'd struck with a brutal Crush Claw.
Blood scattered everywhere and everything paused. Dying shrieks were cut off sharply by a sickening crunch when they Braviary's talons shredded something vital. The dragon fell, unable to keep maintain the struggle with gravity. When the body finally hit the ground, the battle renewed with a vengeance. All the while Will calmly analyzed the happenings. "Don't look away. This is how battles in the sky go. They're brutal and the first mistake is the last." He said to the eevee and her trainer.

A pair of crimson eyes watched the two intently. She crumpled a note in her hands. She had found it in front of the “Eeveelution Research Center”, or so the sign out front of the unkept building said. The note itself read “Gone to Angel Heights, be back soon. ~ Elena Dahlberg.” Kalani had stumbled upon the research center by accident, but was glad that she had.
The young woman believed that nature, and Pokemon, were negatively affected by humans. Forests destroyed and Pokemon forced to fight each other, and for what purpose? Human conveniences and entertainment. Some humans even forced the evolution of Pokemon in unnatural ways just to make them stronger for the battles that entertained them. Kalani ventured to guess that this Elena person meant to do the same thing. Force the evolution of Eevee.
If there were supposed to be new Eeveelutions, why did they not exist by natural means yet? Why did humans always need to play God, try to create things all on their own? All things had a place in the world, and humans needed to know theirs. Kalani had learned her place long ago. That she was a tiny, insignificant human. She had to show others their place.
So she hid in the foliage of Angel Heights, waiting for the opportune moment to interrupt the researcher's plans. But what would she do? Startle the Eevee to interrupt the evolution, if it even occurred at all? Or should she just steal the Pokemon from the woman? Kalani would have to observe just a little longer and decide her course of action. She stroked the silver fur of the Absol beside her. “You seem tense, Tamesis,” she whispered. “Is something troubling you?”
She looked up at the sky as the young man released a Braviary and watched in horror as it viciously attacked a flock of Swablu and Altaria. It was obvious to her that the Bravairy was a trained killing machine. And while the young man's words were true, Kalani could not help but blame him for such a needless slaughter.

This was one of the few things Will lived for. A battle. A challenge to the pokemon he had raised. A chance to revel in the thrill of bloodshed and dominance over weaklings. Many would have shied away from an encounter with a dragon type. The breeder saw fit to challenge a group of them. Many held fear of even these weak species, despite how they paled in comparison to real menaces. These fluffy bird-like pests were nothing to a Dragonite or a Salamance. Yet, all of them together were still posing a thread to his terror of the sky. Granted, they were wild. Theirs were battles of self preservation, hunts of necessity, and best kept at unneeded minimal interval. Will's Bravery thrived in the environment. Already another was taken out.
However, with it came fear among the dragons and with that fear came desperation. All pretenses of them surviving without them giving everything they had to vanquish the killer among them vanished. There were still three fully fit for battle and with the cleared space, the fight's tempo increased immensely. They took advantage of numbers with profound teamwork quickly. They started to dance a deadly dance of dragons and attacking faster and stronger than before. Crossing streams of Dragonbreath that actually managed to clip the feathers of his pokemon. They also managed to keep up with Hresvelgr's speed for the most part and with what they lacking in brute force they made up with numbers.
The insistence to heal themselves when left alone for too long made Will growl and his patience run thin. It was obvious that the tables were slowly turning now. Already his pokemon was slowing. The turns were no longer as sharp and attacks were more defensive in intent. The breeder let out an annoyed sigh. Taking a step forward he took in a massive breath of air. Then placing his fingers to his lips, let loose a piercing whistle. It carried and caused all the pokemon to still. Silently, they cast a look back at him before returning to each other. Only his pokemon would realize what the command meant though.
Will pulled out a cig from his pack and placed it between his lips thoughtfully even as his pokemon obeyed. Hresvelgr shot off with another aerial ace. Again and again. Blurring passed the pokemon at speeds they couldn't keep up with even after their dragon dance. To Will's eyes the Braviary even seemed to multiply before slamming into one of the dragons half a dozen times in the span of a second before finishing it off with a Brave Bird. The recoil took its toll though and the bird beast labored to continue flying. Luckily, it was already going in Will's direction by the time the redhead had lit his cancer stick.
He thumbed his belt idly as he watched the last Altaria follow. The creature just couldn't let the monster that destroyed all the others escape so easy. The man let revealed a terrifying smile around his smoking cig. A burst of red light later and a blue form was next to him. The two fliers were gaining on their location fast, but Will barely seemed to notice. The breeder merely turned to the newly released pokemon and raised an expectant eyebrow. Calm, but burning coals met emerald orbs and they seemed to have an entire conversation. Will took a moment to look over what his first pokemon had become. A blue behemoth with her fair share of scars, but none debilitating. Lean muscle and thick furred, she stood a full head over him.
He reached out to her and her head met his hand warmly in a sign of affection. The breeder reveled in how such coarse fur could still remain so soft and make him feel so...proud and content. His hand ran up to the crown of her head before pulling away and he uttered only one statement. "I don't want even ashes left," and he meant it. He wanted to reduce the last struggling member of that pathetic flock into nothing. The darkness and brutality inside his psyche demanded nothing less. However, he held back from relapsing into a mindless psychopath like he'd always done. This was his way to vent.
As he walked over to Elena and grabbed her arm, strongly enough to have her follow, but not roughly enough to hurt. Hresvelgr landed on his shoulders when he let go and turned to watch. The Altaria still lagged behind a fair distance. It was the perfect sitting target. Sati stood where she was, still and silent. Her eyes locked onto the creature. Cold distaste began to ignite. Slowly, the process began. The air shimmered around her. Smoke rose up from her nostrils, first in a short puff then in a steady stream. The dragon either didn't notice or didn't care. Then both stopped. Will turned to Elena, standing in a way that allowed her a view of what was behind him, but not the full thing. He combed his hair back and met her eyes. "Focus on my eyes."
And the world exploded.
Fire blazed forth from her collar, even trailing down her back a fair margin. Unshackled, unrestrained their roared higher and higher still seeking to consume anything and everything around her. From withing the pit of her stomach something bubbled and rose to the back of her throat, the tongues of flame licking out to taste the air. Then she erupted. A massive geyser of spiraling flames so condensed they formed a beam shot from her station. The air parted with a bang similar to when lightning struck, a result of superheated air burning and parting in an instant. The torrent consumed the dragon and carried on into the sky with an intensity that rivaled the sun. It still burned even as it traveled miles and remained so until it was out of sight.
Nothing was left where it passed and Sati snapped her jaw shut to end the attack. Her flames receded shortly afterward, but still the Typhlosion didn't budge. The dragon was gone. Yet, Will could still feel something watching. With frightening intensity he turned from Elena and surveyed the area, wanting and hoping something else was foolish enough to jump out and attack.

Elena covered her mouth in horror. The once beautiful, graceful, peaceful flying and dragon Pokemon fell to the earth, screaming in pain. It was not what it was supposed to be. Flying types were meant to soar above the clouds, free of gravity's grip, not a care in the world. They were not meant to plummet to the hard, unforgiving ground. The researcher picked up Eden in her arms. “That's enough! Make it stop! No more!” she shouted at Ryan. “I've seen aerial battles before, but this is too much! Make it stop, NOW!”
She started to cry. Looking at Eden with watery eyes, she hugged her tight to her chest. She wanted the Eevee to know the peace and majesty that came from flying, but the vicious attacks that the Braviary dealt terrified her. Could she really put Eden through the same thing? Terrible aerial battles like the one before her?
Ryan pulled her from her thoughts as he pulled on her arm. She finally noticed the Typhlosion standing in place of the Braviary, watching a single Altaria fly toward it. Ryan combed back his hair, letting her see his beautiful emerald eyes once more before saying, “Focus on my eyes.”
An explosion went off behind him, no doubt destroying the poor Altaria. Elean refused to look. Instead, she stared into Ryan's eyes and cried. “Why...?” she whispered, falling to her knees, Eden still in her arms. “Why would you do that...?”
The Eevee in her arms nuzzled its head against her comfortingly before perking up its ears. She looked towards the nearby bushes. Something rustled among the plants. Elena looked back to Ryan to see him surveying the area. Eden must not have been the only one to notice something else was with them. “What is it?” she asked. She, too, turned toward the bushes. “Who are you? Show yourself!” she called, gathering up as much courage as she could.
As afraid of the breeder's Pokemon's power as she was, she knew she was safe so long as he was there with her. She would be fine. So long as he stayed there with her.

The destructive force of the Typhlosion made Kalani take step back. Survival of the fittest, maybe. But not when the fittest was trained specifically for slaughter. The smell of burnt feathers lingered in the air, nearly making her sick. Uncertainty took hold of her for a moment. Did they even stand a chance? She looked at Tamesis and saw him nod his head, as if he had read her mind. Once again fueled with determination, Kalani returned her gaze to the two humans.
It was then she noticed them staring in her direction. She had been caught. “Who are you?! Show yourself!” the researcher called to her. Kalani chuckled to herself. Elena would have to work on her intimidating voice. With one last glance at her Absol and a jerk of her head towards the humans, she stepped out of her hiding place. She decided that liberating the Eevee from the researcher was the best course of action.
“All right, you caught me,” Kalani said with a sly smile, her hands in the air. “I've been watching you all this time. But I'm more interested in that little one rather than the two of you.” She pointed at the Eevee in Elena's arms. Taking a step forward, she continued, “Humans are always trying to play God, trying to mold nature with their hands into what they want. But you should know your place.” She snapped her fingers, a signal to Tamesis.
The Absol lunged toward Elena, intending to knock the Eevee from the woman's hands and bring it back to Kalani. But the force of impact was much more than the Pokemon had anticipated, and all three tumbled back to the edge of the cliff. Tamesis dug its claws into the hard ground, barely hanging on to the cliff's edge as the other two continued their fall over the edge. Kalani rushed over to her Pokemon's side to help pull him back up to steady ground. “Not exactly what I had intended, but it will do,” she muttered, turning her attention to the young man.

He could remember. Images of fire, blood, and chaos. The smell of burnt flesh and fear. The sound of screams of which held within torment, anger, despair, helplessness. All of it he had no problems dealing with. Day after day as they continued to hunt him and more bodies piled up after being broken physically and mentally. Never once did he taste regret, feel remorse, experience true defeat. He was too angry to focus on anything other than his own rage and ire. Within a small orb he drifted touched by nothing but his own void. He didn't like feeling 'other' things, he couldn't handle the confusion that came with them. However, neither could he avoid them completely.
They always found a way to worm in. A small crack to creep through and take him unaware.
Always.
Even though Will tore his gaze away, he could still see the image with perfect clarity. A gifted mind was a blessing as much as a curse in this way. The way tears rolled down her cheeks struck him as odd. She was crying for defeated pokemon. For weak pokemon that weren't hers to begin with. Their deaths wouldn't affect the evolution of her Eevee in his mind, it could only balance it. But she still cried for them and begged him to stop his attack. He refused even as the thought of mercy registered to his cloudy battle hazed mind.
Why? That was the question wasn't it? There was a brief moment when Will stared down at the woman in wonder. Why what? Why kill? Why show no mercy? Why test his pokemon. Why experiment with wild ones? Why show her pokemon brutality instead of peace? WHY DO WHAT? WHY DO ANY OF THOSE THINGS!? To all he would have only one statement. Statement, not answer, because for it to be an answer one would have to understand it.
It was what he IS! He didn't know why! Would she hate him for it now? Fear him? End the end, did he care? He didn't know. And he HATED not knowing!
And his string of thoughts snapped. A new figure neared and Will was no longer just angry, he was angry at something. Not because of logical reason, but because it eased the pain in his mind. Still, he wondered. Would she have cried for him if he was hurt? (Bleeding, Broken, BruiSED, CUT, StaBed, GuTTED, DEAD!?) What would it be like for someone to cry over you? To care about you even though they knew nothing of you. Emerald eyes locked onto the woman that had appeared from the brush. Would Elena cry for her?
FOCUS! The breeders thoughts were too wild. The insanity flashed behind his eyes, but he pushed it back. Once more he was in control. His face could have been carved from marble and his eyes from glaciers. She was simply dark. Dark hair, dark skin, dark eyes, and dark pokemon at her side. She was also calm if slightly cautious. Will let out a piercing whistle and his Braviary took to the air once more, shooting high into the sky out of sight. Sati backed down, landing back on all fours and stalking back near his side. Many would be surprised that such a large pokemon could move so silently.
She spoke of gods before signaling her pokemon. Will tensed, a thousand scenarios playing through his head. However, for all his strengths he still had weaknesses. All those ideas involved him. Only him. He had, for a small interval, forgotten that he was protecting someone else instead of himself. Long had the loner instincts been engraved into him. So when the pokemon shot passed him and collided with the woman behind him, he didn't react.
The moment was lost now. He'd made a mistake. However, it wasn't like that couldn't be amended. His flier still soared high, sharp eyes watching. Will didn't doubt that the woman and her eevee could be saved. The same couldn't be said for the dark skinned woman staring him down. She accused him of 'playing' god. A small smile broke through his composure as he thought over that. Then his baring shattered. Will laughed and he laughed hard. Loud cackling echoed all around, deep enough to reverberate through the souls of listeners. The slipping of sanity deep within its depths would make many think twice.
"God! GOD!? I am far from a human "trying to play God"," he said as his breath started to return. "No, you'll find that I'm many things, but a God isn't one of them. However, I'd like to remain civil if possible. I feel my self control is slipping a bit. I'd hate for such a lovely specimen like yourself to be a part of my more...'unclean' experiments." The smile that had been on his face had shifted into a smirk that promised...something. The man was still tense, but his posture less threatening.
However, Will's eyes studied her closely as well as the pokemon she held such confidence in. The only one a Dark type. No advantage to the power he displayed with Sati. So Will hazard a guess that it was her strongest. The one that she hoped could close any gaps in experience. Should he strike its weakness? Such an act might bit a little much for an opening more. Too much power and not enough finesse. So Will decided to wait an see. For the dark woman's move as well as anything from where Elena fell.
"Tell me," the breeder said after a lingering silence. "Are you more afraid of me or my pokemon?"

They were going to die. It was the only thought running through her head. Elena stared up at the sky above her, once again thinking of how wonderful it would be to fly. Would Ryan save her? Maybe. But he would probably focus on the woman at the cliff first. But if he would save her, would he make it in time? She closed her eyes and whispered, “Probably not...” The wind whipping around her swallowed her words.
They were going to die. At least she had been able to make a friend in Lyeant before her death. Yes, they were friends. Maybe she was still upset with him, but she still thought they were friends. She hoped he would be okay against the woman. What a thought, of course he would be all right. But still... there had been enough death that day. What would he do after she died? He would not cry. He was too strong for that. She hoped he would at least mourn for her a little bit. Mourn for his lost friend. Think of her every so often. Miss her.
These thoughts brought a smile to Elena's face. If she had to die, she could die happy. Even without having finished her research. Eden moved in her arms. Elena looked at her and smiled wider. She would not die alone either. She would go along with her best friend. And so she closed her eyes once more and accepted her fate. They were going to die. And so she waited.
And waited.
And waited...
She dare not open her eyes. The researcher had it stuck in her head that if she looked, it would be just before she hit the ground. But she did not think they had gone that far up the mountain. She did not remember the cliff being so high up. Certainly they should have hit the ground by now, like the creatures before them. Pushing aside her fear, Elena cracked open one eye to see how far they still had to go.
The ground was still such a far way away from the two. She felt like they had been falling forever. How had they not hit the ground? Or at least gotten close? She looked even closer at the ground. Was it... moving further away...? How was that possible? Eden continued to move in her arms. Forgetting that the wind would swallow up her words, Elena called to the Eevee, “It will be all right, Eden! I don't know what's going on, but everything will be all right!” She looked to her companion to give her a smile, but an expression of shock replaced her reassuring smile.
Brown fur was now blue. The tan tufts around the creature's neck was now white, soft and fluffy like the clouds. The researcher finally noticed that the movement she had been feeling was the spinning of twin tails. They were keeping them in midair! But what had happened to...?
Realization finally set in. “Eden! You evolved!! You're a Breezeon!!” Elena cried.
“Bree~!” the Pokemon cried as it continued its labored ascent.
“We have to hurry! We need to make sure that Ryan is okay!” She was sure Ryan would not need her help, but just in case, she wanted to be there. The researcher was so proud as she watched the Pokemon fly. She knew that Eden could do it.
Finally, they made it to the cliff's edge once more. Eden flopped down on the ground, exhausted. Elena kneeled down next to her and stroked her now sky blue fur. She looked up at the scene. Ryan and the woman stared at each other, sizing each other up and waiting for their opponent's next move. “Ryan! We did it! Eden evolved!!” she called to her friend. She began to cry once more, happy tears this time. She looked to the woman's Absol and hoped that it would not attack them again. She was not sure if Eden had enough energy for a battle.

Kalani watched the man coolly, slightly amused by his little speech. No one ever wants to admit that they play God. No one. Why would this man be any different? She stared at the Typhlosion after his speech. Her job was done. No new eeveelution was created, and the researcher was dead. Fighting him was not part of her plan. She knew Tamesis stood no chance against the beast. He asked if she was more afraid of him or his Pokemon.
“The Pokemon is far more intimidating. You're nothing more than a human. A tiny insignificant human who couldn't even save his friend,” she answered. “My work here is done. I have no need to deal with you. One day you'll encounter an enemy you can't defeat, and on that day you'll pay for the needless violence here today. You, too, will know your place...”
As she turned to leave, a whirring sound was suddenly heard from over the cliff's edge. “It can't be...” Kalani whispered as Elena and a new Pokemon landed safely. What had happened to the Eevee she had been carrying? Unless... “What are you doing?! Haven't you changed nature enough?! Now you have to force an evolution rather than let nature take its course?! How is this not playing God??”
Motioning to Tamesis, she backed away from Elena. “You got lucky this time, but I will stop you the next. One day, I promise you, all your work will be gone,” she threatened, punctuating her sentence with a snap of her fingers. Her Absol at her side, she began her escape into the forest.

Will let out a low growl at her response. Not because of her concluding that his pokemon were more of a thread. No, many would do that and there was plenty of truth behind it. However, she had the nerve, the audacity, to write him off as nothing as "insignificant". She ground her point home with throwing his mistake in his face. Yes, he'd forgotten that Elena needed more protection than him. He knew that, but the instincts had still taken over. As impossible as it might have been his glare hardened further. The rampant fire storm that roared within him condensed into a controlled ember.
Every muscle in his body tensed and Will almost threw himself at her right then, but stopped short. He had to stay in control. Sure there may be a day where he was overwhelmed completely, but that would be far into the future. He knew his place and he payed for his sins constantly. The lack of interaction. The difficulties opening up. There was a constant weaknesses derived from his strength that he would never be able to get rid of. And as much as he detested that part of himself, he loathed to be reminded of it.
Nothing would give him more closure than making this woman suffer. An interruption came from behind. Elena's voice, triumphant and tired. Will didn't look back. He could study the result later. It seemed that this was the final straw to throw the woman off balance. Yet, who gave her the right to dictate what was within a 'god's' realm. She went on and on about how what they did was unnatural, but wasn't it nature that forced the evolutions in the first place. They didn't introduce any drugs or stimulants. All the two breeders did was introduce a correct series of chance stimulus to a blank slate.
And now she wanted to run.
No. There was no escape from him.
"Sati." And with a single word, trembling with barely contained malice, his Typhlosion blurred. In the span of a few seconds she overtook and even cut off the route of escape. The Absol had to stick with its trainer, slowing it down, and Sati was faster than anything a normal human could hope to match. Still, she did not ignite just yet.
"Atlas," A burst of red to his left. "Varuna," A flash of red to his right. The became solid at almost the same time. An armoured blue behemoth stood tall, already unsheathing the blade at his side. The other was a lanky looking humanoid, two fists covered in red gloves at its side. "Cripple them."
The Hitmonchan dashed forward, his arms dangling behind him from the sudden wind resistance the speed caused on its own body. The fighter honed in on the Absol, seeing an easy knockout from being an type advantage. Atlas moved between the dark skinned girl and her pokemon. The boxer's foot stopped every bit of forward momentum with a powerful stomp that make the ground shake. Then in the same movement transferred all of the force through its body and into the fist that lashed out at the Absol. The fist blurred even though it had not even completed its path, turning into countless hazy red strikes. The staple of the Hitmonchan line. Comet Punch.
At the same time, Varuna's blade flashed into a graceful dance. A dance of swords that separated towering trees from their base and sent them crashing around the clearing. Splinters and leaves fluttered through the air, mingling with dust. When they drifted away, it was revealed that the area was already closed off. In not even a full minute, tree trunks surrounded the area. His Hitmonchan was attacking and Sati waited to herd the two back into Will's direction.
The breeder himself took calm steps forward, a sharp whistle escaping his lips before he placed a cig there and lit it. The sound was answered with a cry from above and Hresvelgr could already be seen circling above. Letting out a stream of smoke, he growled. A sound deeper, guttural, more menacing than the last."I wasn't finished with you yet."

Elena picked up Eden in her arms, the poor Breezeon exhausted from flying them back to safety, as the woman screamed at her. She had never once thought that her wanting to discover the eeveelutions was playing God. She just wanted to see with her own eyes what nature created and figure out how it happened. She had not really done anything unnatural to help her Eevee evolve, so she could not understand the woman.
“One day, I promise you, all your work will be gone.” The threat terrified Elena. What if it was so easy to destroy everything she had worked for? Quick and easy, like the snap of her fingers. What if one day all her Pokemon were taken from her, or worse yet destroyed like the Swablu and Altaria from earlier? She hugged Eden tighter. She could not let it happen. The woman tried to escape, probably off to start ruining her research. “Where do you think you're going?!” she screamed at her.
But the woman's path was blocked by Ryan's team of Pokemon. They destroyed her path and viciously attacked her Absol. It was the battle with the flying and dragon Pokemon all over again. She could not let this happen either. “Ryan, no, stop!” Elena shouted. “No one else needs to die today!” All his Pokemon waited and watched them intently.
The researcher walked towards them. “This is enough,” she said to Ryan as she gently placed a hand on his arm. “You agreed to come with me to protect me. Thank you, you've done a good job.” She kissed his cheek lightly before turning to Kalani, crumpled on the ground next to her wounded Absol.
“It's in our nature to want to know how the world works. We're only human, after all. All I want is to do what is in my nature and discover what is out there in this world,” she explained to the woman. “Even if you had killed me, there are so many others like me who want to know all the wonders in this world. My place is with my Eevee and all the eeveelutions I can find. Where is your place? Do you really know?” She stared at her, pity in her eyes. She was just a misguided child. Elena turned around and took Ryan's hand. “Let's go. We should leave this place. Eden needs some rest.” She threw one last look at the woman and the Absol before tugging on her companions hand. Eden nuzzled her blue head against her chest, comfortable in her owner's arms.
