The wind tossed the small girl's, Nina’s, green hair about, swinging it lackadaisically as she tried to keep it kempt by placing a small hand on top of her head. It was getting a bit chilly around here, for the sun was blocked by a mountain that seemed to tilt its way in front of the sun just to keep the area shady and cool. Ah, but it was way too cold, for the girl found herself shivering, trying to clutch her jacket closer to her skin. Her companion, a Poochyena named Louie, stifled a shiver himself, trying to brave the chilly air. This made the girl concerned for him, and she couldn’t help but to open up her arms and expose herself to the cold to offer him her warmth, “Come here, Louie. It will be warmer for both of us.”

Louie titled an eye towards her and paused. When he shuddered Nina was sure that he would accept her invitation, but he suddenly whipped his head back and continued walking, sticking his little nose up even higher than before. She stood pathetically, clutching her hands to her arms again. It wasn’t exactly the absence of the sun’s rays that made the area cold, it was the gusting winds that created this chill that swept its way under the mountain.

The girl’s eyes strayed over the landscape, until they landed upon a disturbance in the greenery. Ah, there was a village there. Nina stared at it for a while, simply lost in thought when a sudden gust reminded her why she was even looking at it. Nina decided that it would be best if she had taken shelter there. She glanced at Louie, asking him, “Hey, do you think we should go there?” Louie tilted his head back to her, and then followed her pointed finger in the direction to the village. He huffed and gave a canine shrug, which was close enough to a yes.

Nina smiled, and she was glad she finally had a destination in mind. She was actually simply wandering around the region not knowing where she was going. Roaming the lands was harder than it seemed. Famous trainers and champions make it look easy, but Nina didn’t seem to be any closer to being a coordinator than when she started out. She sighed a bit, and Louie’s ears cocked backwards towards her. He made a small grunt, acknowledging her weariness, and then kept his ears forward. Nina smiled softly, knowing that even if Louie seemed to care about no one but himself, he really was concerned for her. Or… that’s what Nina liked to think at least.

Nina neared the village, but it seemed as though it may take some time. She stared at the cloudy skies, and the image calmed her a bit. Perhaps there was something waiting for her in the village? Or at the very least, maybe she would become a step closer to being a coordinator. Who knew? Only time would tell.

Sam was almost home. Riding on Beary, she had been faster than usual, though the two of them were both tired. As they neared the botom of the mountain to head into the little village where Sam was born, she had Beary make a slide with ice beam, and they slid down near the village, and came to a halt when Sam spotted a girl on her way in. "Going in? I can show you" she said from Beary's back, and proceded to hop off her. Beary sat down like this was normal, and she lay on the bear-like pokemon.

She had some sandwiches in a lunchbox in a little backpack, and pulled some out and started in on one half. "Want one?" she asked the other girl near her. "They're PB&J" she said with her mouth partially full. Reaching back into her lunchbox, Sam pulled out some juice boxes too and offered them to the other girl. Really, she had lots of food, as it took some time to get from the Ice Tower in Eirenhyre City to Chisai Village. And there was some food for Beary too, as she was carrying the two of them back home, and Sam got out the pokemon's food, which was gobbled up by the hungry pokemon.

Nina felt the air grow even colder and her teeth began to chatter uncontrollably. Louie stopped in his tracks and pivoted around to face her. He tilted his head to the side, before sighing at the pathetic sight and jumping into Nina’s arms. She was not expecting his sudden willingness to huddle up so she yelped as her balance was thrown backwards. She quickly caught it and held Louie close to her body, and she welcomed the warmth when she found the source of the sudden chill. There was an ice type Pokemon near by and he had used an ice beam to make a makeshift slide for a girl to go down on.

Nina stared at the powerful Pokemon, and a faint tugging at the back of her brain helped her remember its name: Beartic. Nina shuddered not at the cold now, but at the power that she felt in the ice type Pokemon. Louie felt this, but he stayed calm and indifferent, unfazed by the strength of the bear-like Pokemon that was presented to them. His trainer was a girl who was rather short, shorter than Nina. She greeted Nina rather warmly, in contrast to the chilled wind, and offered to show Nina the way into the village. Nina blinked at the girl, before nodding dumbly, “Uh, yes please. That would be great.” Louie kept his eyes on the large bear Pokemon in a rather challenging way, but Nina wasn’t paying attention to him anymore.

Suddenly Nina was offered food; there seemed to be an endless supply of food inside the other girl’s bag. Nina tried not to seem rude and closed her gaping mouth, which she had opened in surprise to the sudden offering, and nodded her head quickly, “Ah, yes. Thank you. Again…” She took the juice box that was handed to her and quickly began to drink it. It was sweet and cool, and even though the air was cool, it was a refreshing drink, and she found herself feeling a bit more energized. She watched the girl’s Pokemon eat their food silently. This small girl was probably very experienced and strong, and Nina could tell at the looks of her Pokemon. Still, Louie didn’t seem deterred by the obvious difference in power. He just glared at all of the Pokemon arrogantly and pointed his nose rather loftily. Nina didn’t know what else to talk about, so she stayed quiet while in the company of this small, but strong, girl.

Sam watched as the older girl accepted the food and drink. She and Beary finished their food a minute ago; maybe this girl was almost done too, it wasn't that much food. "Ready to go? The village is about a half an hour away by foot, or if you'd like you can hop on Beary and it's about half that, only about fifteen minutes on her. She can carry the weight" Sam said nicely, hopping on Beary anyways.

The wind began to whistle where the two girls were. She could tell the older girl was a little insecure, by the way she was talking. It wasn't uncommon with people who were around Chisai, in the small village many people were insecure, and came to the village to relax. Sam wondered if this girl was here to do the same, though maybe not. As the wind continued to whistle, and it got colder on the spot, though Sam didn't mind. The cold was something she'd been around her whole life, and a little chill wasn't cold to her.

However, the other girl might not be so resistant to the cold, so Sam took off her coat and walked over. "Are you cold? The wind chills can be pretty bad around here. And by the way, I'm Sam. The ice master of the elite four" she said with a small air of confidence.
