Another League meeting. Another two hours of tedious audio recordings. Another series of speeches, suggestions, and inputs of his own, half of which he couldn't even remember, the rest to be lost before the time he'd snuggled up under his bedtime covers at home. With new League members showing up seemingly every day to replace the ones they'd so tragically lost in the Imum wars – while the new, typically kind faces were fresh and nice to a point – it was growing a little tiring to have strange looks, rude comments, and repetitive questions all relating to his memory lost thrown his way every time the organization got organization and got together. The curious pondered why the main speech-giver was always repeating important parts. The immature would poke fun at him for, in the middle of something imperative, having to interupt and ask about what the general topic at hand was again.
Danny loved his region and the group he worked so hard for to protect it, but it was just killin' him, Smalls.
Monthly meetings indicated the start of a long weekend, one that the office workers so readily enjoyed and gym leaders, as well as Elite Four, tried to enjoy before being called back to face a challenger. Few bothered to stay behind too long, no one keeping cooped up inside passed four o'clock – three hours from when the meetings usually ended – so squeezing one's way through the front doors was always a bit of a challenge. Why would it be? With all of the eager beavers shoving their way through, ready to get home and enjoy the time off, who would have an easy time just getting out of the main building and into Lyeant's fresh city air? Certainly not said region's own champion; not with the way one of the new gym leaders toppled into him, sending him reeling forward.
“Ah-ah- Look out!” he cried, feeling gravity overtake his frame, as well as that of the one who'd started it all. As well as an innocent bystander with a head of ocean-blue hair. How could she have not fallen, after all, with the way he came crashing into her?
Pebbles dug into the palms of the raven-haired male's hands as reflex called his hands to catch his unceremonious fall. Ouch. That was going to be sore in the morning for sure. Wincing as he pushed his weight upwards and passed the baton to his legs to get him all the way upright, Daniel scanned the area to assess the damage caused by the rookie's careless action; two other strangers seemed to have tumbled over, and multiple people had been shoved or bothered by the whole situation. Already, accusations were being through in one direction, and then another; it wouldn't be long until one of the more hot-headed workers would whip out a PokeBall and the battle would be on. Wanting to get out of there as quickly as he could, but also feeling guilty for possibly hurting the girl from earlier, he locked his sights on her and offered a hand to help her up. “I'm really sorry about that! Someone else pushed me into you and I tried to move out of the way, but it just -” Looking more carefully at the League member he'd barreled into, recognition flooded his senses. “Don't I... know you? Sorry, this head of mine isn't very – Wait a minute! You're Ryuuna! The dragon trainer!” | it was a long night; we ran along into the spotlight, you sang a song that made the children cry and all the people knew my name. it was a bright light; these lands combine into a great big mass. we sang along until the very last. oh, the jury stole my fame. and then we grabbed the sun and it shined into these eyes - believe me! cover up, rain down, we wept on the edge of this town. it's all i want, it's all we want tonight. cover up, rain down, we wept on the edge of this town. it's all we want tonight. |

i challenge my fate. Especially because these official meetings were no longer new to her, they were so much more uneventful and boring. The first meeting was the most disappointing when Ryuuna discovered just how unimpressive these official league meetings were, but now she had just gotten used to it. She wanted to return to Neurift city soon because her dragons were restless in their pokeballs, and the trainers in her gym probably could only keep the dragons company for so long before they got...bored. She also wanted to go home because she had so many better things to do than be here, such as training, and uh, training. And maybe some gym challenges. Challengers were far and few these days. But the league meetings didn't seem to be the place to wonder about that either.
Her wandering thoughts distracted her from her uneventful surroundings and she quickened her pace with the thought of returning to her dragons, her most trusted allies. Rushing high speed past others whose chins were over the level of her head, she found herself heavily planting her forehead into someone else's chest with a sharp "Kya!" in surprise, knocking the completely unsuspecting other off his feet, and her smaller self wasn't nearly lucky enough to stay on her feet after the straight on collision. She caught herself and softened her fall on her own, but soon noticed the piercing stares of the entire crowd around them. Embarrassment and pride filling her flustered head, she quickly blurted out defensively, "Hey...watch where you're g--!" Ryuuna then realized whom it was she had bumped into, even though she had also been to blame for not being aware of her surroundings, especially when she, as a member of the shorter spectrum of the human race, was required to be even more aware of those around her.
It was the champion of the region, Daniel Parks! She stubbornly and silently refused his hand and offer to help her up, and stood up. Ryuuna rubbed her forehead with her sleeve where the top part of his green tie had hit her. It was more of an excuse to avoid direct eye contact with him. She had mixed feelings about how she felt about the champion after he had been the one to abruptly halt her journey towards defeating the Lyeant league, at least that time several months ago. She blinked and opened her mouth for a few moments, but had no idea what to say to him. Instead, she fixed him with a quiet, narrow eyed stare. “Hey, watch where you're go-”
Oh geez. Despite the fact that she cut herself off, likely more out of respect than affection, the tone of voice Ryuuna used, as well as the way she refused the offer to help lift her off the ground all pointed at one definite conclusion: she was mad at him. Totally. As the gym leader picked herself off the dirty sidewalk by her lonesome, Danny couldn't help but feel like the scum of the Earth. Even if the fall hadn't been entirely his fault, if he'd been a little quicker to reacting, a little quicker to maneuvering out of the way, she wouldn't have been caught in the fray and her day wouldn't have been ruined. He'd ruined her day. Must have, given the way she rubbed her forehead to hide the death glare she was most certainly shooting his way and refused to say a single thing to him in the aftermath of the little accident. Sure, he'd apologized, but when it came to something like this, sometimes an apology just wasn't enough, especially if you totally forgot who the person you were apologizing to was.
… Wait, what was going on?
“Um... Why are you staring at me?” the champion asked stupidly, momentarily forgetting what all had just transpired around them. He was left grasping for straws as to what had caused the short female to stand there gawking at him, as well as all of the commotion and fighting that was going on around them. Wait. Wait, wait, he remembered! He'd knocked her over like a total butt munch and owed her and – wow, that little moment right there only dug him deeper in debt to her. She must have thought he was the jerkiest jerk that ever jerked. “Oh, [crud]! I remember now! Aha, literally running into someone isn't really the best way to reunite, huh?” he said just as stupidly as before, his words accompanied by awkward laughter. “Again, I'm really sorry for bumping into you. And not remembering who you were right away. And kind of forgetting what we were doing here for a second. Please don't hate me for it; the day's not over, so we can still fix it!
“Here, let me treat you to something nice. To, you know, make up for all that stuff I listed earlier. And to catch up! I mean, man, I haven't seen you since, uh... Hm. That time you challenged me for the champion title, I think? Wow, that seems like forever ago, and... I'm talking a lot, aren't I?” Pinching the bridge of his nose with his forefinger and thumb, Daniel tried to recollect his bearing. “Okay, just – let me buy you a coffee or something. I promise I'll make it up more than make it worse like I've been doing for the passed five minutes,” he offered with his trademark toothy grin. | it was a long night; we ran along into the spotlight, you sang a song that made the children cry and all the people knew my name. it was a bright light; these lands combine into a great big mass. we sang along until the very last. oh, the jury stole my fame. and then we grabbed the sun and it shined into these eyes - believe me! cover up, rain down, we wept on the edge of this town. it's all i want, it's all we want tonight. cover up, rain down, we wept on the edge of this town. it's all we want tonight. |

i challenge my fate. Ryuuna received the champion's barrage of reactions, questions and exclamations with hesitance and a continually delayed reply. She had no idea what facial expression she wore in order to react to what was happening. The person she held a deep and personal grudge against was now laughing awkwardly and apologizing to her for everything. She still kinda wanted to hate him in order to fuel her desire for getting stronger so that she may one day defeat him and dethrone him as league champion, but he was begging for her to not hate him. The serious stare she previously held was broken and now a slightly overwhelmed stare of confusion. "Um." She murmured almost inaudibly, not yet having come up with a response.
Then Daniel went on and suggested treating her. Ryuuna was so not prepared to accept any form of kindness from this person. She simply looked at him, speechless. "Uh." Yes, yes you are talking a lot. Of course there was no way she was going to explain to him that the reason for her internal struggle was because of how she felt about their past battle, and the feelings of one-sided animosity she held for him which she had never any intention to involve him personally with. Even though Daniel paused his chatter for a moment, Ryuuna remained silent, figuring just as much that he had more to say pretty soon. "...Very well." She finally huffed in a low voice, as if she had been begrudgingly holding her breath all along. She was still much too prideful to let him see her put on a sweet and accepting facade. She was willing to pretend that she still hadn't forgiven him for all this, though it was far from what she actually hadn't forgiven him for | tagged: Daniel Parks notes:How long has it beeeeen 8O how to roleplay... words:306!! |

“Um.”
Brilliantly put. It was all too clear that Daniel's stream of consciousness spewed into words into the air around them had blow her away at at least a minimal degree; at the very least, the stern facade she'd been wearing like armor moments before had melted away into something more akin to blatant bafflement. In hindsight, it was one of many appropriate reactions; it wasn't as though he was making much sense, jumping so quickly to amend something that hadn't even quite been his fault, and the fact that he was saying so much, so quickly certainly didn't pepper much help onto the whole situation. It wasn't as though she could have known that part of his near-hysteria was caused by the fact that he had completely forgotten what was going on around them, and his offer was as much a means to make amends for bringing her injury was it was a metaphorical middle finger to his retrograde amnesia. To her, it must have seemed like the ravings of a madman too eager to please – although, with a bit of a tired smile, he couldn't help but imagine that he was, on some level, just that.
“Uh.”
Even having wound down a bit, the frantic pace of his initial apology and insistence on making it up to her petered off into something a little more casual, Ryuuna seemed just as much at a loss for words as she had been before. Past sins, he knew, were not so easily forgiven. It wasn't as thought one was asked every day by the champion to go get something to eat or drink or... much of anything, really. He wasn't some well-known hermit, yes, and she, as a gym leader, was much closer to his ring on the social ladder than most, but he couldn't recall a time when he'd done something nice with one of the gym leaders he'd been friendly with, much less one who he'd battled once and not spoken to since. Danny was convinced that she was going to turn him down at that point. The pretense of the whole ordeal dictated as much, anyway. She probably thought he was some awkward creep, that his invitation held some seedy undertones, and there was no way under Arceus's reign that she would ever say - “... Very well.” … Oh. Huh. That was most definitely a yes; eloquently put, but a yes all the same. Her countenance, however, rang of a very different story than forgiveness, furrowed brows and a still very steely air letting it be known that she was still upset with him. He'd no idea what it really was that was boiling her blood under the skin, and the only straw he had left to grasp for was that he hadn't been forgiven for the incident just moments prior.
Laughing a tad too awkwardly, the champion lifted a hand to the back of his head and rubbed the raven-colored locks found there up and down, all too aware that she probably wasn't going to be too cheery for... well, any of the event that would follow. It didn't help that he hadn't at all thought of a place to go before offering. Did he even have the money to pay? “Well, okay, let me think for a second -” he said idly, removing his fingers from his hair and using his other hand to fish around his pants pocket for his wallet. Ah, yes – bingo. Debit card. Unless her idea of being treated was purchasing the left side of Veherna Citadel, he'd definitely have the means to afford whatever it would take to get her to hate him a little bit less. Taking a moment to think about what, though, exactly, would make her hate him less, he recalled a place he'd stopped by the last time he'd visited this city, a genuine smiling gracing his features at the memory. “Well, I – I know this one little ice cream shop downtown. They've got every flavor of ice cream you could ever hope to want! Unless you've got somewhere else in mind, would that... work?” | it was a long night; we ran along into the spotlight, you sang a song that made the children cry and all the people knew my name. it was a bright light; these lands combine into a great big mass. we sang along until the very last. oh, the jury stole my fame. and then we grabbed the sun and it shined into these eyes - believe me! cover up, rain down, we wept on the edge of this town. it's all i want, it's all we want tonight. cover up, rain down, we wept on the edge of this town. it's all we want tonight. |

❝ | say you would, say you could, say you'd come and stop the rain. say you'd try and hold me tight, and you just give me away. make me high on lullabies, a melody for me to sway. say you would, say you could, and you don't do anything. | ❞ |
"You know I've been, I've been losing sleep." Dreaming of Kalos and its new cities. "Training shinies, looking for those stars. And no more counting EVs, you know we'll be Super Training hard. As she got over her initial shock of being barraged with apologies after apologies, Ryuuna stubbornly held her narrowed icy gaze upon the league champion, fixing him with the silver tattoo on her left iris, though on the inside, her mind sighed with defeat. By accepting his offer to make things even between them, at least for what had just happened this day, she was forced to forgive the one person she wanted to never forgive. Within her thoughts, she concluded miserably, It's the extroverts who are far too formidable...too dangerous. Ryuuna was not a huge fan of extroverts, mainly because she could not at all relate to them. How they thought they could get away with filling the air with their mindless chatter, as if they merely liked to hear the sound of their own voice filling their ears, she could never understand. Ryuuna held back nothing as she put Daniel on the spot there, her silence demanding he make all the right choices else she...glared at him to death or something. "Well, okay, let me think for a second -" the dark haired male spoke up, shattering the icy stillness of the air between them. Ryuuna said nothing. Let him talk. Let him say too much and more, then let him take responsibility for everything he says and promises." She challenged disdainfully, deciding that extroverts should pay for chattering too much by being allowed to do everything they say and promise they'll do. She leaned away and crossed her arms, implying she'd wait for him to make up his mind, though it was nearly impossible to tell if it was an impatient gesture or a sarcastically patient one. Moving a couple inches away didn't make too much of a difference, but Ryuuna didn't have to tild her head back as much to look at him from her short stature. Ryuuna showed not a single ounce of guilt as the champion reached for his wallet, even though she knew he said he was going to buy her something. She was still well bent on making him take responsibility for the words he had rushed in and promised. Her pride made her overly prickly in this interaction, and that was much rather an understatement. She did have to wonder why the supposedly strongest pokemon trainer in the world, a goofball from what she had concluded so far, wanted so badly to get on her good side. There were those who didn't care that she treated most other people with at least a moderate amount of disdain, and those who were a bit concerned, but soon gave up on the idea that they would ever hear sweet, affectionate words from her mouth. Daniel seemed to be a case of one who absolutely must do everything in his power to make friends with everyone. What would he do when he finally, somehow, discovered that he could likely never get on Ryuuna's good side? "Well, I - I know this one little ice cream shop downtown. They've got every flavor of ice cream you could ever hope to want! Unless you've got somewhere else in mind, would that...work?" The bluenette's pondering thoughts about the near or far future and the past were broken as Daniel opened his mouth again. She had slowly taken her gaze off him and stared with a neutral expression at the ground while they both thought to themselves independently. Her arms still crossed sternly, Ryuuna turned her gaze back on Daniel, though her expression conveyed half the harshness it previously had. She leaned on one leg and bent the other, and her face lightened as she mentally and visually prepared herself to make her most sarcastic reply yet. It would have almost looked like she was about to forgive him at once, like he had made the right decision and all was well again. "I don't eat ice cream." Ryuuna replied flatly, wearing a blank expression faintly edged with amusement. It was the truth, and as much as she wanted to darken her response even more, she knew that adding any more dissatisfaction to her response would definitely be going too far. She only needed as much as a neutral reply in order to put Daniel through as much social anxiety as she could curse upon a person. And as she always did when pouring out all her intensity onto someone, she liked to watch them squirm with overwhelming self consciousness. She could finish off this social attack right then and there by making her own suggestion, but Ryuuna was not yet done with her cruel social treatment of this person. She would wait a bit to see if he could make another offer, and maybe then, if he had any trouble, she might be satisfied enough to finish this ordeal by making a decision she knew an easy-going guy like him would likely be all too happy to go along with. 836 WORDS ● Daniel Parks TAGGED ● sorry she's kind of a social jerk X'D PHARAOH LEAP.
