[attr="class","lucystars"]It had been the mention of prizes that had initially sparked Victoria's interest in the party, and what had ultimately lead her there.[break][break]
In the last months of the year, clear skies were fairly uncommon – even if there was no snow to be found cascading from the sky, clouds would still drape themselves over the sky and obscure the light of the moon and stars above. The fact that Mother Nature had permitted a night where this was not the case, almost as though specifically for the special event set to transpire that night was something almost any party goer who cared to notice was thankful for. After all, despite the fact that the main event was to take place in the City Hall, almost all activity was set to take place outside, and poor weather would have made battles that more difficult. As a particular white-haired female was figuring out, as well, the main building was a bit too crowded for the average person wanting to keep their space. Nice weather made loitering just outside the front doors a slightly less terrible experience.[break][break]
The key words in this situation, though, were “slightly less”. Even while dressed in long sleeves, long pants, and more than one layer with enough hair to strangle a heard of Tauros, Victoria was positively freezing. Trembling fingers made for an unpleasant experience when raising and lowering her lit cigarette from her lips. Clattering teeth didn't make it much better, either. Numb hands made everything worse. All in all, she was absolutely miserable – too cold to stay outside, too bothered by large groups of people to make her way to and through the large set of double doors. The chilly air and overcrowded building weren't the only things making for a bad night, however.[break][break]
Oh no, the fact that she'd gone all that way for the sake of prizes she wouldn't even be able to get was what had her whole evening dragging through the mud.[break][break]
As it turned out, the vaguely mentioned prizes were only awarded to the top battlers who participated in the event. That in itself shouldn't have posed much of a problem, seeing as violence was something she reveled in. It was the lack of actual Pokemon to battle with that threw a wrench in the whole thing. Being one of the world's most powerful legendary Pokemon in a human body made it so that she never needed lower tiered Pokemon to do her dirty work for her, but it didn't help in the slightest when she needed lower tiered Pokemon in order to win rare items. The rare items themselves were worthless to her, as well – mega stones used to further evolve Pokemon that she, um, didn't have. The best use they would have been to her would have been to sell them for profit, but since so few people could use them properly, the demand for them wasn't all that high.[break][break]
“This [stinks],” Tori growled under her breath, just barely attracting the attention of a pair of trainers on the way into the building. “Something really awesome better happen in these next couple o' minutes, or else I'm outta here.”
